Hyderabad: Telangana is likely to witness thunderstorms in the next 48 hours, according to a statement issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday. The officials said that the arrival of monsoon over the state is predicted to be on June 7. A brief spell can be witnessed to mark the onset of the monsoon.
“It is likely to rain for the next few days however these are the pre-monsoon showers. We expect the monsoon to arrive by the end of this week,” said YK Reddy, IMD director, Hyderabad. Brief spells of showers were witnessed on Sunday making the temperatures which were hovering between 40-42 degrees Celsius to drop to 37.3 degrees Celsius.
“There has been a sudden flow of moist southwesterly winds that are strengthening formation of thunderclouds. Under its influence pre-monsoon showers are expected over the area for the next couple of day,” said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet.
